The popular choice of most students is Homestay. Students stay with a local English speaking family in Oxford and will typically have a single room, with a study desk. Twin rooms, double rooms or rooms with en-suite facilities are also available.
Oxford ILS has a number of Homestay providers in Oxford, which we select ourselves for the standard and quality. We do not outsource the selection to external agencies. We know all of our families and have worked with most of them for many years. Our Homestay providers:
- Are welcoming and happy to host our students
- Offer a clean and comfortable home
- Speak English to native standard
- Follow our Safeguarding Policy (for junior students).
What is included
The Homestay option includes:
- Breakfast and an evening meal every day
- Laundry facilities once a week
- Internet (WiFi), however, students must bring their own equipment, e.g. laptop, tablet, mobile phone.
Staying in a Homestay extends the learning experience after the School closes. However, it is important that you tell us about your preferences and requirements (e.g. special diet, living with pets, allergies, etc.) so that we can accommodate you with the right host.
The bus journey between the Homestay provider and the School takes between 5 to 30 minutes.
Check-in/Check-out times
Check-in at the Homestay: Sunday (prior to the course start date) between 14:00 and 22:00. Check-in after 22:00 is not permitted. Saturday check-in may also be possible - please contact the School before booking your flight.
Check-out from the Homestay: Saturday or Sunday (after the course ends) between 7:00 and 12:00 (midday).

Booking a Homestay
To book homestay accommodation please complete our Online Registration Form. The Registration Form has a section related to accommodation type and student's special requests.
We always try to meet the special requests. Please note that the earlier you book your Homestay, the easiest it is for us to match your preferences. In the peak season (June, July, August) the families are in great demand and last minute special requests may be difficult to meet.
Details of your Homestay Provider will be sent to you 3 weeks prior to arrival. They will include a short description of the family, address, directions how to get to School from the Homestay provider and what to bring with you.
