Questions & Answers

Can I book my course online?

Our online booking portal is under development at the moment so in the meantime please download and complete our Registration Form. You can also  request a copy by contacting us.

Do I need to do an assessment test?

Yes - all students need to have an assessment to confirm their level of English. We can then allocate you to a  class  with students of a similar level or a one-to-one class. We will also have a chat with you to understand your specific needs.

If you are a full-time daytime student, your test will take place on the first day. Part-time evening and Saturday students have their test before they join the class.

What happens on the first day of school?

You will have an assessment test first. After that you will receive a Welcome Pack and will have an induction on rules, health and safety. You will also receive other relevant information about the School and staying in Oxford. Then you will be introduced to your teacher and will start your class.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes - all students receive a certificate at the end of the course on the condition that they: attend classes, complete homework and assignments, and pass the progress tests.

Is there a registration fee?

There is no registration fee for UK resident students on part-time programmes, however, all other international students need to pay a registration fee of £85.

Do I need a course book?

If you attend our part-time classes, you will need to buy a course book.

For full-time students (15, 24 or 30 hours) the initial materials are included in the price. If the student moves to a different class or level, then the student has to buy an additional book.

Students attending one-to-one classes - all materials are included in the price.

How many students are there in each class?

We have a maximum of 10 students per class.

Can I access the Internet?

Yes - wi-fi is available to all students free of charge.

What do I need to bring with me to England?

You should bring with you:
  • Valid ID or Passport
  • Proof of permission to visit/reside in the U.K. (visa)
  • Documentation about the student’s address in Oxford (not necessary if the School is providing accommodation)
  • Previous English certificates
  • Appropriate clothing for all weather conditions, including umbrellas and raincoats!
  • Dictionary or other study aids
  • Enough cash for your first few days in Oxford

All students are responsible for their personal belongings. The School is not responsible for any items belonging to the student.

Do I need insurance?

You should take out personal insurance before you travel. Your insurance should cover medical and dental treatment, emergencies, loss/damage to personal belongings, and any travel cancellation costs.

Do I need to register with the Police?

You need to register with the Police within seven days of your arrival to the UK if you are from the following countries:

Afghanistan, Algeria, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, China (including Hong Kong and Macao), Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Palestine, Peru, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Yemen.

For more information see our Pre-arrival document or call the School.

What can I do after my class has finished?

You can use Room 2 (The Library) for self-study or to relax. It is open all day.  You can borrow a book, DVD or Blue-ray free of charge. Or perhaps you would like to sit in the Green Room or in the garden? The School also organizes regular social activities for our students in the afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Where can I buy food?

There is a good selection of supermarkets, pubs, international cafés and restaurants around the School. You can find a variety of English and  international food, for example: from Italy, Spain, Greece, China, Turkey, India, Japan, Morocco, Nepal, Poland, Russia, and Thailand.

Do I need to buy a bus pass?

If you are attending our Junior School (with activities), we will give you a bus pass on your first day.

All other students who are staying here for more than a week should buy a bus pass called "The Key” from the Oxford Bus Company. Choose the Oxford Smart Zone option for your card if you are planning to stay and travel around Oxford.

For more information and prices visit the following Oxford Bus Company page.

Can I cancel my course?

In some circumstances it is possible to cancel a course. See our cancellation policy.
